Our Mission
At World Book Bank, we believe in the transformative power of books. Our mission is to provide access to knowledge, inspiration, and personal growth by bringing brand new books to individuals in jails, prisons, treatment centers, halfway houses, shelters, schools, and other community support facilities.
Through the gift of reading, we empower individuals with resources on financial freedom, healthy habits, faith, teamwork, goal setting, and respect—helping them build brighter futures. By fostering resilience, character, and community, we strive to ignite change, one book at a time.

Nate’s testimony below beautifully illustrates the impact of our mission. A single book, encountered at just the right moment, has the power to inspire hope, ignite change, and transform a life. Stories like Nate’s remind us why we do what we do—because the right book in the right hands can make all the difference!
Our Focus
World Book Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people build better lives through its reading program. The majority of our readers are among the 2.2 million people imprisoned in the United States at any given time. We have by far the highest incarceration rate in the world, and historically, over half of those released from prison are re-arrested again within three years. It’s been shown in repeated studies that those participating in reading programs while incarcerated are significantly less likely to be re-arrested when released. The books donated by World Book Bank provide people with hope that success in life is available to everyone, regardless of the past. Readers are empowered with tools that can change their lives forever. Please check out some of our Letters From Readers and see for yourself!
Our Mission
Provide incarcerated people with the knowledge base necessary to take the actions required to make lasting positive changes in their lives. We do this by offering specific books that provide healing, hope, restoration, and empowerment. For those ready and willing to change, these books shed light on the path.
We believe that everyone has the God-given right to live a fruitful and fulfilled life, regardless of the past. We believe that everyone also has the God-given ability to make that a reality. Many of those involved in the justice system simply do not know this to be true. The books that we offer uncover this truth.
